Ever since receiving the prestigious Juventus Award – previously awarded to e.g. Piotr Anderszewski and Emmanuel Pahud – at the age of 20, Julien Libeer has been described by national and international press as one of the most remarkable musicians of the younger generation.
He is a permanent member of the Avanesyan Trio.Apart from exploring the great repertoire, Julien Libeer is a convinced advocate of the music of Romanian pianist and composer Dinu Lipatti, and regularly collaborates with contemporary composers. His commission to American Bryan Christian, Watercolor, was premiered at his debut for the Brussels Palais des Beaux-Arts in 2011.A protégé of Maria João Pires, Julien Libeer will perform regular chamber music and solo concerts with the renowned pianist during upcoming seasons. Other engagements include Sinfonia Varsovia, Brussels Philharmonic…His playing has been the subject of a documentary on Belgian national television.
After finishing his studies with distinguished professors Daniel Blumenthal (Brussels) and Jean Fassina (Paris), Julien Libeer becomes ‘artist in residence’ at the Queen Elisabeth College of Music.
