Laura Ruiz Ferreres is professor of clarinet at Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main, a position she has held since 2011, and she also plays solo clarinet at the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra. Previously, she was first solo clarinettist of the Komische Oper in Berlin conducted by Kirill Petrenko, and from 2007 to 2010 she was guest professor at the UdK – Universität der Künste Berlin, where she also taught her own class. She is the artistic co-director and co-founder of DeltaChamber Music Festival, an international chamber music festival that takes place every August in Amposta (Spain). Laura Ruiz Ferreres has released several CDs both as a soloist and as a chamber musician, one on Sony Classical label (2018), the J. S. Bach Goldberg Variations for Septet, and Lyrisches Intermezzo, chamber music for tenor, clarinet and piano with Werner Güra and Christoph Berner, released on Swiss label Pan Classics (2022), a co-production with Deutschlandfunk.  She is one of the few who plays and teaches both the French and German clarinet systems. She has won awards in many international competitions and makes frequent appearances as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestra musician. She was born in Amposta (Tarragona) and began her musical studies with her father, later going on to study in Barcelona, London, Basel and Berlin. She also studied historical clarinet at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. Having formed part of the best European youth orchestras, she then became a member of the Academy of the Staatskapelle Berlin and also of Konzerthausorchester Berlin. She has won several prizes in different European Competitions, such as the London Symphony Shell Woodwind Competition and Tunbridge Wells International Young Artists Competition (United Kingdom), International Clarinet Competition Marco Fiorindo (Italy), First Prize at Concours d’Exécution Musical de Riddes (Switzerland), First Prize at Primer Palau 2003, as well as being the beneficiary of the only prize awarded at the Concurso Internacional de Clarinete Ciudad de Dos Hermanas in 2004 (Spain). Her soloist work includes performances with several orchestras such as Sinfonietta de Genève, Komische Oper Berlin, Brandenburger Symphoniker, Philharmonisches Orchester der Stadt Heidelberg, Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin, Orquestra de Cambra de Granollers, Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès, Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya, Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, Collegium Musicum Aschaffenburg and Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, and she has also recorded for the Suisse Romande Radio 2, Deutschlandradio Kultur, Catalunya Música, Radio Nacional de España and SWR Rundfunk.
