Magnus Ericsson

My namn is Magnus Ericsson and I am the professor of violin at Ingesund School of Music/Karlstad University in Sweden.

My students from Musikhögskolan Ingesund, Norges Musikkhøgskole, Kungliga Musikhögskolan and Edsberg musikinstitut are represented at orchestras in Sweden, Norway and Germany as tuttimusicians, leader of the violinsection and concertmasters.Several also works as teachers at Cultural schools, lecturers and professors at College Schools of Music. A few others are acting as international soloists of violin and viola.

I started to teach at Kommunala Musikskolan in Arvika 1980. Several of these children are nowadays teaching at Cultural Schools and playing in Symphonic Orchestras.

I started to play the violin at the age of four, my teacher was Torsten Fåhraeus.

• I studied at the Conservatory and Academy of Music in Praha with Josef Kodousek and Josef Vlach during 1972-1976.
• Diploma studies at Edsberg, Stockholm with Endre Wolf and Lars Frydén 1976-1980.
• 1:st Concertmaster Oslo Philarmonic 1983-1999, chiefconductor Mariss Jansons.
• Appointed Professor at Norges Musikkhøgskole, Oslo 1992.
• 1:st Concertmaster Royal Stockholm Philarmonic Orchestra 1999-2010.
• Professor at Royal College of Music, Stockholm 2001-2005.
• Professor at Ingesund School of Music/Karlstad University 2005.

I have been touring as a concertmaster, conductor and soloist in 32 countries.
